It was a weekend of Welsh success, as we hosted the annual Four Nations competition at The Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre. We matched our record of last year by winning all 3 trophies we were competing for - a Welsh Grand Slam!
Our closest match was against Ireland for the Meikle trophy which we won 24-22. We also retained the Kay Trophy by beating England 37-15, and we overcame a big deficit to retain Big Bertha by beating Scotland 35-29.
Scotland claimed 3 trophies, including the newly contested Guy Dingle trophy by beating England's mixed teams 20-18. Scotland ladies also retained the Connie Miller Trophy by winning 19-9 against England. Scotland were also victorious over Ireland to regain the Marshall Millenium Trophy with a final of score of 35-15.
Ireland and England took home one trophy each. The Turnbull Cup went to Ireland after a 36-25 victory over England.
England claimed their only victory with their men retaining the Tom Ballantyne by beating Scotland 29-15.
Many thanks to all the players, especially those who braved the elements to travel to the Flower Bowl for their amazing ice and hospitality and to everyone who made the weekend a success.
Next year's Four Nations will be hosted by Scottish Curling with the date and location to be announced.
We were kindly joined on the Sunday of the competition by Martin Henfield and Maurice Wilson, from the Bury Photography Society. Their images can be viewed below.
