Welsh teams have attended the competition for many years, and it serves as a great warm up for the upcoming season. Everyone plays 6 shorter games over the course of the weekend so it gives you a chance to play lots of different teams. Welsh Curling was well represented at the I'Anson competition in Stranraer (11th - 13th November), organised by Preston Curling Club.
Congratulations to Team Pougher who retained the magnificent I'Anson Trophy, to Team Meikle who had the same number of points but slightly fewer ends and won the Meggatt Rose Bowl for placing second, and to Team Beever who won 3 out of their 4 games and placed 4th, winning the Stroyan Cup.
Team Pougher was skipped by Garry Coombs with Richard Pougher stepping in as a sub in place of James. The team won their first three games to set up a final against a fellow Welsh team, Team Meikle. It was a close game which ended with Garry drawing through a port and stopping just in time to get a one and peel the game. This meant Team Pougher won the trophy due to more ends over the weekend.
