A disappointing outcome for a Wales side playing some of their best curling of the week but just not able to overcome the Slovakian shot making in this Wednesday afternoon encounter.
The opening ends were evenly matched, although the Slovakians were able to notch a score of three in the fifth end to leave them 4-2 ahead at the break.
Wales looked to hit back in the second half and were able to even matters up in the sixth end, but a phenomenal hit and roll from Slovakia with the final stone of the seventh end added four points to their total and effectively ended the contest.
The result doesn't affect Wales's security in the B Division for another season, and the defeat of England by Slovenia this afternoon also keeps a play off place in sight.
A win against England tomorrow, combined with a victory for an in-form Turkey team over Slovakia on the late draw would be sufficient to secure third place - Wales's highest position in the round robin for a number of years.
